I debated sharing this story, however I suppose it could provide some insightful entertainment, so you’ve been warned and view at your own discretion.
To give you some background: While mapping the other day, I had found a large pond that seemingly had trails around it and it wasn’t far from my house. Heck yeah I was going to check out that mo fo. And today was the day! A long enough run that’s perfect for exploring. I lace up my shoes, connect to satellite while hitting up a few lunges and legs swings, then I am off for an adventure. Watch beeps, mile 1, mile 2; good pace, feeling great, beautiful weather, and here comes the trail! There was a little woods entry that then turned left or right onto a trail. I chose right for no particular reason and it was great. I saw some guys fishing over by a dock, and heard a lot of spazzy animals rustling in the trees. Anyway, point of the story, eventually I turn around and start heading back to the exit of the trail. When I get close, I suddenly feel something hit into the back of my leg. I thought it was a big bug so I instinctively smacked it away. Then I looked at my now dirty hand and thought ‘Oh, it’s just mud. I love mud.’
Little while later, I looked at it again. ‘Well, sh!t,’ I thought…………’Ooh.. sh!!!!!t,’ I realized. It's not mud. I look at my shoes, they’re not dirty. Completely puzzled, I finish my run, not letting it phase me. It even helped me remember to lower my arms and not let my shoulders get so tight. A lesson that could be taken out of this; life can figuratively or literally (hopefully more figuratively) get a little sh!tty sometimes. Don’t let that stop you because it will eventually wash off. So when life hands (or throws) you sh!t, keep running.
I would appreciate any feedback as to how you think this shiz got on my legs without getting on my shoes. Maybe it was a sniping by the fishermen, maybe it was a spazzy animal. Maybe it has something to do with the distance I ran (6.66) and I should start being superstitious. o.o However, can confirm, definitely not my own sh!t.
I hope your run was less sh!tty than mine!
