Notes

Today was a good day to be reminded that you have to go with the flow and make the best of what life throws at you.

I was in the second to last seed in the box start, so I wanted to take it out hard enough to get into lane 4 before the break. The other girls had the same idea I guess, so that led to a faster start than anticipated.

My strategy was to break up the race into each K which helped mentally to just take it a bit at a time and focus on each part. I was very thankful to have my teammates, especially Maggie and Jess to work with the whole race.

The lap pace we were running felt comfortable and with 10 laps to go I felt confident that my legs could maintain that the whole time. Whether that was actuallyy true or not is debatable, but since I convinced my head, I achieved that.

Reflecting for future improvement, I think taking it out smarter and on pace would have helped my legs later on to be able to pick it up even more for the last K or so.

Lap splits: 40, 44.2, 44.8, 44.8, 43.5, 43.3, 44, 45, 44.2, 43.3, 43.8, 44.1, 45.3, 43.9, 39.1

Re-reflecting, Looking at the splits, the first lap wasn't thaaat fast (I originally thought it was ~38) so it shouldn't have impacted my legs that much, but the first 100 at least was definitely cooking.
