DJ Treadmill

Notes

Plan: w/5M @ 15K to half marathon pace; mission accomplished. This was another great run, though I slightly discount its success because it was on the treadmill. Why do we consider treadmills so evil anyway :)

I originally had the idea to do this run at home at 5:30am. So I woke up at 4:50, then sat on the couch for 20 minutes with the ice pack on my knee. Big mistake - I dozed off and when I opened my eyes, it was 6am. I guess I wanted more sleep. So, I changed my plan and decided to run at DJ when I arrived. I didn't want to put the run off until the evening though because I need to do my 14 mile run at 3:30 tomorrow morning before commuting into NYC. So I got some work done from home, then drove into work, did a bit more work, then hit the treadmill and finished my first mile before 8am. The next 8 miles were done by 9am. The time flew by since I was listening to the audiobook Shantaram. The height of my run was when the cab driver caused an accident in Mumbai and the people on the street retaliated with their own form of justice swiftly and painfully. It was then that I increased my pace to 6:35 for the last two of the five miles of speedwork.

I iced my knee about an hour before the run, which seemed to help because the first mile was mostly pain-free. The 9:00 pace included 0.06 miles of walking to warm up.

Nice work, Frank! ~6:40s for tempo pace, even on a treadmill is awesome. Keep up the good work and I'll leave my comments for your crazy 3:30 am run for when you put it in here :) Perhaps we'll run together again next Wednesday?
