Notes
Excellent karate class - just me, Sensei and one other student.
We did lots of semi-free sparring, then kata.
During kata we did:
- heian godan several times
- bassai sho (back stances were too high, bend elbow more on reverse rising block, don't bend elbow too much after 4 knife hand blocks, check fists on double jab, don't stop arms during 3 forearm block blocks - must be one fluid motion, the leg movement is a sweep and my left leg in particular doesn't go high enough, last move the elbow should not bend too much - the whole arm should move as an unmoving unit)
- kanku dai (bend elbow more on reverse rising block)
- jion
- jitte (lower horse stance, turn head more abruptly, after last double arm block in horse stance I was doing an extra move with my left hand. I was reaching over to block an attack over the right shoulder but the left arm should only wind up behing the right arm down toward the right hip, during double-arm catch of an attacking stick the foot should be in a side-kick wind-up position, and again my upper elbow should be bent more during the reverse rising block)
