Met Billy for his PM SPECIAL BLOCK workout at Glencoe (AM workout was the Garlic Festival 10K). Ran the entire workout with him. Warmed up out Jackson Woods and back. Workout was 10 x 1000m @ 10Kish pace. I must say, this workout felt easy. I felt strong the entire time. My endurance is good. First 5 I got us to hit around 3:20 per rep. Recovery was 400m. The next 5 my goal was to bring it down a second or two each rep. Thats exactly what I did. Billy came in a few seconds behind me on them. He's doing what he needs to do plus he did run harder than me earlier in the day at the Garlic Festival 10K. My last interval, I decided after lap 1 to let it rip. First lap was in 1:19, last 600m was in 1:45! It was a lot of fun and it was nice being able to do the workout with Billy and help him out some. Cooldown was in the pitch black dark out in the Jackson neighborhoods. I felt really dehydrated and noticed that I was no longer sweating. It was a rough cooldown. Talked to Billy for 20 mins afterwards and then headed to the Plaid Pantry for a cold Ginger Ale! I had a great time doing the workout with Billy. Glad it worked out. Got a little dark at the end but thats ok! We both wondered what Coach Jim Smith would say if he saw us both running a fast workout on the Glencoe track together. Its awesome that two Glencoe alums are working together and still going at it on an elite level after all these years. More great workouts to come!
