WOW. Decided to explore the 'yet to be reopened' segment of Gales Creek Trail. Boy was I in for an adventure. This was hands down the most scenic & fun trail I've EVER run! Went out 51 minutes and back. New trail has been recently cut and it is very runable and soft. Only problem was I had to stop several times for fallen branches and creeks blocking the trail. But its not technically open yet so I'm (hoping) those issues will be remedied soon. Could've kept going out after 51 but realized that I wasn't equipped for a 2 hour long run so I turned around when there was plenty more trail to explore. I believe you can easily get a 2 hour out and back run on this baby, maybe more. Trail was not steep at all only periodic gradual uphills. Coming back was faster than going out. Its hard to explain all the great scenery in a post. Mileage is only an estimate. I actually think I ran farther than 12 miles, but Garmin's don't work well in the deep forest. It felt a lot faster than 8:10 pace. Oh well. Will have to hit this trail up again soon and perhaps go for 2 hours or more!
