Nice Bike ride out on the Banks/Vernonia Trail. Wanted to explore the east side of the trail and ride out to Stubb Stewart State Park. Started about a mile from the Banks end and rode all the way out to the Tophill Trailhead. Nice segment of trail, especially in the park. All paved and about 3 miles of bark chip trail on the side of the asphalt trail (in the park boundaries only) Beautiful scenery along most of the trail. Only problem I see with it would be the gradual uphill slope of the trail for 5 miles one direction. Not that bad, but probably wouldn't make for a fast long run. Nice tressel segment which was fun to bike on. I actually went all the way to the Top Hill Trailhead and rode my bike on half of the gravel segment of the trail. Not too bad on the tires. Coming back I was screaming fast on the bike with the wind against my back and the gradual downhill slope. Felt good and a lot of fun! May have to consider doing a 12 mile run starting from the Manning Trailhead and out to the Park and back.
