Notes
Day before meal included a Pre-race prep. for Boston.
Chipotle (rice instead of pasta), brown rice, chicken, light black bean (I'll be skipping this going forward), light Verde, light cheese. Tortilla chips and guacamole ---everything sat decent in my stomach the next day.
I took Imodium-D about 2 hrs before race (6ml) and another dose (3ml) 30 min before. This worked great, no stomach issues during or before race time. I also hate a honey stinger 30 minutes out from race and took my inhaler.
I had decent sleep too last night.
Went out I would have said too hard --stuck with pack because the headwind made it more advantageous to stay with the group than take the headwind solo. I did this until we got into the woods and then decided the pace was too aggressive and I would pay for it if I didn't just slow down (take the headwind) and conserve some energy. I slowed down but it may have been worth it. I paid close attention to my HR which I raced at a higher HR than I would have expected (Zone 3 vs a lot of Zone 4). Overall fairly consistent pace and I think coming in and out of the woods messed up my GPS and caused me to panic I was loosing time because it would show 6:15 and I ultimately would hit 6:02-4 when the mile came around. Last 2 miles were solid and I was able to pick off Andy J. and Jason Newport in the last mile. New shiny PR and well deserved.
