Took Hammer Gel before race, and at miles 5, 9, 13, 17*, 20, and 23. (The 17 was a Gatorade power gel handed out on course.) I drank Tailwind and Gatorade throughout, and water with gels. I took 2 salt pills on 2 occasions — mile 19(?) and 23 or 24. I am sure they helped keep me from cramping; I should’ve taken more starting sooner. Legs were sore after mile 20, but the salt preempted the onset of cramps, and I was able to run pretty hard for the last 0.5 miles — 6:24 pace according to Garmin.
Not my fastest, but a lot learned today.
