Notes

I ran a pretty smart race, paced almost perfectly for my conditioning. My right hamstring cramped hard at mile 26, almost within view of the finish. I had to stand there for a while, then slowly walk until I could run again (more of a hobble). I didn't put in as much weekly mileage as last year, and I nearly ran as fast. The SAM work was great, I need to do more of it, in addition to getting mileage over 70 mpw for 5 or 6 weeks (by contrast, I didn't have a single week over 70 this cycle). I had good quality workouts, just not enough quantity. And I felt it today. I'm happy with my "grit" today, meaning that when it started to hurt at mile 20, I focused, gave positive self-talk, and didn't give up until the cramp forced me to stop.

Got lucky with weather. It rained up until about 10 minutes before the start. It sprinkled just briefly during the race, although I heard that it rained on the runners who were out there longer.

7th AG (6th last year). Not sure if I medaled like last year; there would need to be four or more elite/recruited athletes ahead of me. I did finish ahead of 1 guy who usually just beats me, so that's cool.
