Notes
28 degrees at start, mid-forties at finish. Took a cab to Metrodome -- very good idea for future planning.
Ran my plan: 7:30's for about 20 miles (although I was slipping to about 8:00's), then fought like hell to keep up 8:00's after hitting the wall. BUT, check out data below: From mile 21.7 to 24, my pace was 8:23. From mile 24 to Finish, I ran 7:33 pace!
Brought Gu packets and had 1 before race, 3 during race (2 of my own, 1 of the Clif Shots they handed out). Someone gave me a banana around mile 23, and it seemed to help allow me to finish strong. It must've kicked in by mile 24.
Next marathon, I'm bringing my fluid bottles (this year, I wore the belt with Gu packs, but no water bottles). In hindsight, it would've been nice to drink during the first 10 miles or so whenever I wanted, without having to navigate the water stops and running into other runners, etc.
Finished in 3:21:34.
Good fun, looking forward to next year! Boston, perhaps?!
