Very fun, fairly challenging, and really exciting to have so many OGTC guys around for this. I went in knowing this would be a rust-buster/rip the bandaid off kind of day and it was, but it wasn't a surprise. Got out well, maybe just a hair fast, and unfortunately contributed to knocking down an older guy about 400m in just after we made a hard right to go downhill toward the barn/start. He took the turn wide and came left directly in front of me and another running and I think after he was pushed by someone on the left his legs just got tangled with ours. I almost stopped to help him but kept running, which I think was fine. Caught up to Declan not too long into the race but he slipped away from me a little after 3K when I was hurting a bit a conserving a little for the end of the race. I rolled my left ankle just a little at one point and felt it during the rest of the race so I'll have to manage that a little this week probably. Didn't have a ton left at the end, but also didn't go to the well because I didn't feel like anyone was within kicking distance. I feel like this was my best xc season opener in a couple years at least but also like it was a typically slightly-disappointing first race of the season. I think I'm on a good trajectory and just need more workouts to be able to show my fitness. Going to take tomorrow off to recover and, if the ankle can handle it well, do a long run or workout on Tuesday.
