tried to start out slow but not layering has its disadvantages, so of course went out too quick, but still on the warmup-easy side for half the way out, then picked it up to easy-moderate. on way back, however, picked out a guy ahead and started to try chasing him down...not sure why since i was trying to just do an easy run...but ending up basically at 4 miles with a 7:40 pace...so probably did a mile and a half under 7. because of that, i'll put this as a tempo rather than steady state. lost my target at mile 4, so slowed again. It always happens, tho, if i start out too fast, i don't ever recover to actually run fast and well.
