A huge mistake. But once I started, I didn't want to back out. First mile, went out conservatively and felt pretty good @ 6:53.54. I knew this wouldn't be the under 19 I was looking for, but WAS hoping for under 20 at least!! And, at the very least, under 21!!! But 22:40.06 (chip time)...HELL NO!. After that first mile the piriformis and hamstring tendinitis basically took me down...3K in just over 13 minutes. By then, it was just like please dear God, don't let the injuries be long-lasting. Hate trying to save face in a race! Nobody else knows you're injured. You just look like an idiot letting everyone pass you! And lo and behold the finish was up a hill---yeah, short strides ain't even gonna help me now! It felt like my butt bone was totally dislocating at this point. Argggh! Got super, SUPER drunk at the after party (but at least met up with some old track mates before the drunkifying). Now? Still hungover. Still injured. Gotta strengthen the butt. Didn't do yesterday's hour and a quarter. Today's a rest day. I can only stretch and strengthen and then jog the rest of the week. Taken down by a 5k. Sigh.
