SHIT RUN! with lori and gill. was supposed to be 36K in 3 hours. well, a minute in and i had to stop for the bathroom - very questionable stomach!! felt hard to breath for the first 6 mile chunk -- was already trailing by mile 5. The hill up to second narrow's bridge almost did me in and was so far behind at that point. But then came the bridge downhill and i flew -- i shouldn't have. trashed my quads and my calf muscles! Had a really hard time (as if it wasn't already!) after that. Really just gritted my teeth and hung on. Had to run on icky surfaces -- rocks, climb over concrete barriers, etc. Glad we got the ugly part done early...but all to no avail. Hit the pretty part and the legs were gone. With the rain, the breathing came easier but way too late for the legs. Calf muscles were both trying to pull, left shoulder soooo tight...just a total mess. From Lions Gate on ramp, just had to walk, pathetically slow jog, walk, all the way to the 3-hour mark. Just wasn't my day for experimenting with such a long run on almost all cement! Will have to start doing some road work. Lori had us at 1:51 at 22k - which was right by lion's gate -- just for comparison.
