Notes

So planning to race on Sat, and the training plan from the book says for a week with a Saturday race, change the workout from 3x2mi @ T to 3x1mi @ T. I was a little surprised to see such an easy workout at this point in the training plan and was discussing with ma boiz alternative, faster workouts. But, I ended up sticking to this one for a few reasons, after just adjusting by adding some 200s on either end. 1) There's a reason that the workout is cut in half for a weekend race; the hard day is supposed to be Saturday, not Wednesday (and actually Tuesday if I was following the schedule exactly). 2) I'm still getting quicker stuff with R, H, and I reps, I just have this preconceived notion that it should be faster. But, seeing as I could close the (albeit slow) 10k with a sub 5:20, these training paces are still effective in developing appropriate 5k/10k paces. 3) I still have plenty of room to grow in the tempo department at the moment. 4) Other minor reasons (no flats, feeling wiped).

So that's the story.

That said, I'll be brief now... Felt exhausted for the afternoon so this hit harder than it should have. #3 was the slowest but it was the only one without a bonehead 81 in there somewhere so it was arguably the best. Weather kind of sucky, temp nice and cool but really wet/humid day. All in all, though, fine stuff. Hate the dark.
