Notes

Race day, doggies. ‘Twas an eventful day. Another wack night of sleep last night. Ogie had some diarrhea issues throughout the night from Lynn feeding him pancakes yesterday. He went 3 times in the night, and the second one was on the carpet inside. Claire and I saw him assuming position in the dark so we tried to move fast and I flung the blanket out from under his butt but it was too late and I ended up flinging his shit all over my body and face. One was inches from landing in my mouth. So getting all that sorted out really took away some precious z’s. Didn’t really affect our race though. We did get to bed pretty early still since we started drinking at like 1pm yesterday. We blew in Ian’s breathalyzer when we got home and somehow I blew 0.00 even though I drank a bunch hours before that. Didn’t realize my liver is a fucking TANK. The other doggies were more intoxicated and took some liquid IV to beat their hangovers.

Anyway, the triathlon didn’t start until 11:40 because the start times were staggered due to the swim being in a pool, so we just sort of mucked about at the Connors’ place and ate breakfast before packing up and leaving at 10. That was the nice part about the late start, but starting so late meant it was like 80 degrees by the time I got the chip from Brenna. Claire and Brenna slayed their legs of the race. They truly carried The Blue Team. I ended up getting exactly my goal time which is pretty dope. I warmed up on the course to check it out and I really confused the race volunteers when I turned around early and did strides in my race bib. The first 2 miles of my race felt great but the last was a bit of a struggle because the last half mile had 2 steep uphills into a headwind. I felt like if the course was flat I could’ve done another 5:20 for the last mile, but given the course and my HM training, I’m satisfied with my performance. Gotta pick the mileage back up this week. Back to the grind

this looks like a very painful way to run 17:00. great stuff though!

Thanks! It wasn't too painful. I felt pretty good for the most part. I just really didn't feel like putting in twice the effort to go just a little bit faster on those hills at the end so I just said it is what it is.
