Notes

Day Hike to test backpacking setup. Drove up to Alamogordo area and hiked most of the Dog Canyon trail. Brutal trail, climbed 3000 feet in 5 miles, some super steep segments with very few flats. Relentless climbing on the way out and consistent quad-jarring descent on the way back. Beautiful canyon and views of the valley and WSMR. Other than picking a bad trail, mostly went well. Stopped for lunch and had some tea. Made some ramen later on, not that great. couple granola bars and PB sandwiches. Pack was fairly heavy (30+ lbs) with the water and all the backpacking supplies, sucked for just a day hike but good practice for an actual overnight trip.
