Stump Farm Trail Race

This was a last minute decision to do this, but I figured that this was a good way to get in a long run for the week. Rolling with lots of winding single track. Started in about 10th place and slowly moved up to catch the leader by mile seven.

Followed him in the single track until we got to a opening where there was a water station. I wanted to beat him to the next trail, and he helped by stopping to get some water. I took off when I saw that, but I was surprised to hear him right behind me when I started down the trail. I ran hard, and he stayed right on me even though I could hear he was breathing very heavy. I was really working and he kept sticking. I started to worry, but I kept pushing. Finally, after a lot of work, I put a gap on him. I kept pushing when I got to open areas to put some time on him. By the last mile I was tired and I was just trying to run without tripping over the roots because I was having a hard time picking up my feet.

It was a lot of fun to get back to the trails. The best part was hearing the guys that ended up 2nd, 3rd, and 4th talk about how I bridged the gap to catch all of them. It was kind of funny. I'm pretty sure they hadn't spent a lot of time competitively running.
