Did not have a lot of confidence in either the lifting or the running coming into this. I think the difference for the lifting is that I just had a good peak. Went hard in the gym for 4-5 weeks, then had an easy week. Lifting every 3 days and doing a high number of reps is key. I drove up the morning of and weighed in around 7:00. Didn't spend a ton of time prepping for the lift, as I thought I wasn't going to get 30. Right when I started drinking Gatorade G2, I took a vitamin with 100mg caffeine. I did 10 reps fast 2 times, and some band stretching. On the lifting, I just made sure to not get distracted during the lift. Super pumped to get 30x.

Felt bad on the warm up. At the start of the race, people asked how many reps I got, and I said 27. This turned out to be a big advantage, as they let me go almost immediately during the race. I took off from the pack early. About a half mile in. I was able to press but think about relaxation. I looked back a couple of times and couldn't see anyone. Coming down the hill after the 2 mile marker, I couldn't believe I was this far up and sort of relaxed but was still hurting from being out of shape. I was pathetic up the last hill and this took a lot of time.

I was really happy to won this event. I really felt like a piece of shit leading up to this. I know that I'm not in horrible shape, and will be able to get in good shape this year.
