I managed to keep ahead of the 8:40 pace group until around mile 15-16. I felt strong going in and even temps were not bad 33F at start and around 55F at finished. However, apparently I was not over bug that hit me earlier in the week. First 10 miles had stomach issues which I was able to deal with but around mile 16 started having burning chest sensation and general weakness/malaise. Not painful just as if I was congested. So tried to slow down a little to compensate. I kept well hydrated on run, alternating water and Gatorade, but last 8 miles drank both for energy as well as hydration. Afterwards I was exhausted, more than any other marathon that I ran in the past. Went to bed for 2 hours after race and then back to bed around 8 PM then slept until 8 AM. Feeling less exhausted but not as strong afterwards so think marathon or cold bug still around.
