DD drove. We left at 5:20 and got there around 6:00. Greg parked right across the lot from us, so we hooked up, chatted, jogged around the lot, and stood in the potty lines until the start of the race. At the gun I took off really fast, because it was downhill and I like to take advantage of that. Around the turn heading south they had failed to remove the big steel barricades that went all across the road, so all of us had to go around the very edge of it. After that I got in my groove, legs feeling strong, but upper half of me still congested. Hoping I can get enough oxygen. Toward the end, my respiration rate was faster than 2:1 cadence. South loop of the lake was fine, north loop was long. Two cheerleading squads were nice. Returning to the stadium was all uphill, as I knew it would be. Most disappointing to all of us was the discovery that we had to run all around the field to the finish, especially since my watch thought I ought to be done (as did I).
Greg was at the finish area already - he had passed me - so we drank our water and cooled off for a while. I soon saw Derek and Marcus. Later saw Morgan and we got together for a FB pic.
Pretty happy with the way my legs performed. Wish my lungs had been a bit clearer.
