Notes
Met Marty & Carol, got photo. I lined up near DD, Tyler, and Sue. Felt like I was a bit farther back than I should be. That may have prompted me to run the first mile way too fast - at the 1 mile sign, I was beside a girl whose phone app said it was a 7:13 pace. Now, it's possible, maybe probable that she started her phone 15 seconds after I crossed the line. I kind of hope so. Anyway, that mile was downhill, and after that, I relaxed a little bit, but decided to keep pushing to see what would happen. Wish I had worn my Ironman. What evidently happened was that I slowed down a lot. I think that was mostly on the hill at Calvert, from 56th to 48th. Once I got to the top, I picked up the pace, and felt like I kept it pretty brisk, in spite of being tired. Paced near a guy for the last three miles, chatted a bit about Vibrams. Came around the corner with DW's cowbell clearly audible. The course was well monitored by cops at the major intersections, but we could have used volunteers at a couple of the turns.
