Bronchitis hitting me yesterday afternoon was not an auspicious thing, and this morning I felt like crap, but thought I could try this. Walked up to the team and David asked where Brady's packet is. Uh oh. It's at David's desk. We debated whether David should go get it, but instead walked to packet pickup, and they were most accommodating. Crisis averted. DD went to the porta potties, and she didn't make it back in time for the team pics.
Race started, and I was in assessment mode. I had pretty much decided to jog this, but mile one was pretty much on pace, and my optimism increased. Granted, this mile was mostly downhill. I decided to try to maintain the pace on the more difficult parts and see what happens. Mile two, of course, was slower, with the 84th and Adams climbs, but remarkably, it was still at least sub-9. Three was the slowest, but from the halfway mark I was feeling good enough to pick it up a bit, and I passed some people and finished strong.
Brady is not showing in the results. Hope they get that fixed.
