Okay, I put out some effort for this - more than any race this year. Still a bit slower than last year, and I'm not sure why. Probably I still haven't learned how to run fast without a long stride. An 8:01 pace isn't bad, though.

I don't much like afternoon races. My guts were threatening to stitch up during the first three miles, and that was worrisome. Thought my food intake today was reasonably good racing prep. PBJ for breakfast(!), MaltoMeal at 11:30, yogurt at 1:00, water throughout the morning.

I thought my legs would have more oomph after the good base mileage and good taper. They didn't quit on me, but didn't have as much pep as I had hoped. I kept the 8:00 pace pretty much throughout the race, as confirmed by the timekeepers. Last year, I walked for a stretch. Hmmm.

No big complaint. It's a long race to do at this stage of my minimalist adventure.
