Notes

Got there around 2:30, adequate time to get my packet and to look around. Museum is rearranged, and there's some interesting stuff I hadn't seen before. The hangar is pretty crowded with planes. Didn't see anyone I knew prior to the race. Picked up packet, and boy, is there a lot of swag! Pulled off my pullover pants and shirt-jacket and stuffed them into the swag bag (part of the swag). Moseyed toward the start line, which is now in Hangar E, so runners kinda weave among the planes as they are starting. Saw Brian F lined up, but he didn't see me. Lasses started off, and I waited 5 minutes until starting my watch. In the hangar, it didn't find satellites, of course, so I wasn't sure it would be ready by the time I crossed the start line. It did, though, and I got it going right after giving the pink gorilla a high-five.

I found my breathing cadence and my stride pretty quickly, and was happy with the 9:22 first mile, considering the congestion. Mile 2 was getting close to desired pace, and mile 3 was on. Then it got hard, I think not only because I was flagging, but the course gets tougher - more hills, more xc. Toward the end of mile 5 I needed to make a comfort stop, so that added some significant time to it. DW was on the sidelines cheering shortly after this. Mile 6 was kinda tough as well. In the final stretch I made myself catch a couple of runners, but there were about 3 who were able to roar past me.

Happy to see Brian and Morgan and Bryce at the finish party - got a pic with Morgan for FB. Hung around for the AG award. The other 2 70+ runners didn't stick around, so I was alone on the podium. PGE's DJ was excellent - they should keep him for future races.

DW came along to take photos, but not necessarily of runners. She was there to cheer for me in the last mile, though, and got a couple of shots of random runners. Afterward, we had a wonderful Mexican dinner at the new Mi Tierra. Very busy, so we sat at the bar and shared the Discada Trio, and strong margaritas.
