Opting for the Long Run with Drew before I leave for 2 weeks. Sac and Fox again, this time it started off a bit soggy though. I thought the singletrack might be better but I was wrong and we ended up just running on the grass next to the trail. The glorious news was that the porta-potty at 3.5 miles was returned to me, just as I knew it would. I took advantage and rejoiced.
The next trial was a closed sign on the normal path. Thankfully, there was a detour through a prairie that I've never taken. We tried the singletrack 1 more time for a mile or 2 before given up on it. Back to the main path with its long straightaways and wide paths (decupletrack?). This was boring, especially knowing we'd be on it the whole way back and not knowing how much shorter a distance it would be. We did explore past the "ending" parking lot to find more trail than we knew about. For another day perhaps.
The 2nd half return trip was boring as predicted. We were also faster (maybe more effort). But while it wasn't the easiest long run, at least my back held up and I finished strong compared to the last 2 long runs.
