Hartly Park

Notes

In Duluth, requested a location to run from Balto and received Hartly Park. I drive there and there's a big sign for "5th Grade Forestry Field Day". Thanks a lot Balto!

But I found a parking spot and did my best to avoid the kids (I doubt they ventured more than 1/2 mile from the nature center). I started off on a wide ski path but was on the lookout for singletrack, there were some possibilities but I took the 1st large one which ended up just being a super old hut/cellar. Not one to backtrack, I bushwhacked to the top of the ridge for a great view before finding some signs.

At first I was just inundated with directions and trails - Root Canal, Rhiannon, Rock Knob, etc. I took a few before settling on the Guardrail. Little did I know I would be doing this one for several miles. Thankfully it was awesome. Just technical and hilly enough to be challenging, but not so bad that I couldn't cruise, and cruise I did for several miles taking it a bit harder than I needed to.

I finished back at Root Canal and did a quick loop in Wet Meadow. I eased up back on the ski trails, though I did hit a few more hills to waste time.
