Notes

3 hour long run, check. 2nd longest run ever and all by my lonesome. Only a little longer than my long run 2 weeks ago so this one was slower, but I also didn't do any gravel miles to improve the average.

It was another warmer and more humid morning than average. Started out with the goal of running every trail in the park and trying to drink more. Finished that goal, my first bottle, and my first podcast in 90 minutes. Some random pains, groin, and front of left foot, but mostly feeling good.

Next, I was going to head to some gravel miles to mix things up, instead I turned around right away due to a stalled train. I opted to return to the car early, just 45 minutes since my last stop and that was a good idea for 2 reasons:

1) I had already drank a lot of my bottle so I finished that off and refilled with my post-run drink (not planning ahead enough apparently).

2) If I had returned to the car at 2:30-2:45, I probably would have stopped.

Heading away from the car with 45 minutes to go was the low point. I was drinking a lot so likely dehydrated and my legs were tired of the downhills. The uphills still felt good. But I looped around enough and forced myself to still be farther away when I hit 20 miles and to my surprise, that meant I was already at 2:55 due to my slower pace. So I happily b-lined it back home and called it a day with 1 minute over 3 hours.

Since I had already finished all the liquids that I had brought, I had a good excuse to stop at Casey's for chocolate milk, Gatorade, doughnuts, and breakfast pizza. Spent the next few hours vegging, though I still managed to be functional the rest of the day.

Still have no idea what any of this training means for a 50k, but I can only keep going. My currently plan is a high-mileage week next. Then focus on hills the following week as I'll actually be in La Crosse. Then a 2 week taper I guess.

Rebel.

Pollux and I decided that there is no way the 4 hour will feel anywhere near "good".

Nutmeg

I concur, but it might feel good for up to 3 hours.
