Ames

Notes

Finishing off a blah month with a good one. Pollux rang and is finally in Ames for the 1st time since last July. And he'll be here all week! As is our custom, we started off with a long run. We met in between and then I took him to River Valley Park which has the best trails in town. They're flat and not numerous, but well shaded.

About 6miles in, Pollux started gagging, a moth had flown into his mouth and he partly swallowed it and partly got it up his nose. We continued for a few more minutes before Pollux just started vomiting. I'm not sure I've experienced this before but he said he was good to continue afterwards. Still, I suggested we leave the park and find a water fountain.

We didn't return to the trails as the 1 bridge entrance was a choking point with several people. Instead we looped around on sidewalks and gravel to the rear entrance. That was a nice distracting way to get in a few more miles. Another mile or so of trails before returning to the cars. 1 add-on was necessary and we found a very nice singletrack trail that went about a half mile.

A much better run than I would have had on my own. Good to catch up and we had a wide variety of surfaces, inclines, and speeds (and experiences!)

I found it interesting that spelled both moth and mouth as month within a few words. And also, that sounds horrible and something I don't think I've ever come close to experiencing.

What is Pollux's schedule like? Any chance I could pull off meeting up with you two for a run?

Rebel.

Yeah, I want to join that run too.

Nutmeg

Huh, that was poor spelling on my part.

Drew, I believe Pollux is around until this weekend, then up to Bemidji while I'm in WI, and maybe back to Ames briefly after that.

We're still figuring out plans, possibly a 4pm run Thursday and unsure about Friday. Text me if you want to make the drive but I won't have time to meet in Tama.
