Notes

Even with taking it easier, I haven't had a run this short in just about a month. But I think I deserved and/or needed an easier day. I started with some grass running, moved to the bike path hills, and ended with 4 hill sprints.

This was the 1st time in a while that I've worn my new(er) GlideRides. Not that I'm blaming any shoe, but these would be suspect #1 for hurting me if I did. I'd say I haven't been wearing them more for 2 reasons, 1) they were in my car trunk, 2) I'd been doing mostly trail shoes.

Rebel.

Interesting. Did you get those thinking they would be good for marathon training/racing?

OK, long response....I bought them way back in October when I was not in good shape/health. And undeniably I've improved both since then and have enjoyed every run in them.

I did buy them because I got caught up in the marketing and for 2 reasons:

1) They are somewhat maximal shoes with thicker foam. I think we all get intrigued about Hokas from time to time, especially when we're hurting. So this was my foray into that world while sticking with Asics.

2) They do somewhat follow in the nike 4% footsteps in that the foam is stiffer for more energy return. I don't support the idea of some shoes that are faster than others (other than weight differences), but I also don't like want to be left behind. Maybe I'll buy the vaperflys at some point, but Asics is promising their own version and I'd be keen to try that. So the Glideride could be a stepping stone for those flats.

Again, I don't blame the shoes, I really like them and can prove that by looking at my log and seeing that I've done every single long run this winter in them. And every single long run was good too.
