Notes

This may be a 1st for my running career: A long ran the day after a race. I believe this is fairly common among other college programs, but Steve never did it.

So here's how it happened, Chili was talking about going 13 miles and Drew was likely taking Monday off, so I thought I might be better off running my long run on Sunday than alone on Monday. I was pretty sore from the race and a fast pace probably would have killed me, but we kept the pace modest and enjoyed the somewhat familiar route, good company, and even some trails (and 1 cliffside to climb). Drew stopped at 10 and Chili decided to play it safe with his knee hurting and he stopped too. I was ready to keep going and then hit a hill around mile 12 and felt super tired. I recovered on the downhill and then started rolling again.

I'd say I enjoyed this long run thing after racing. I ran tired for a long time but also felt like I didn't (or couldn't) overdo it. Good training, but I don't think I'd regularly do this due to the increased stress/wear&tear. The only regret is that next week's mileage will likely look crappy now without a long run.

I've always wondered about that whole sunday long run thing.
