Workout day. Partly because I want to put the weekend behind me, partly because I didn't get much of a workout that day, and partly because there's possible ice tomorrow. But workout was as far as I got, not real plan. Which is how Drew and I made it past 4.5 miles before I finally just started doing tempo.

We got to 6min pace soon enough when a guy turned onto the bike path ahead of us. He looked bulky but it took us a bit just to pass him. The snow was melted at the usual forced turnaround so we kept going past 5 miles. That was short lived as snow drifts turned us around less than a half mile later.

I was enjoying the tempo but thought I'd stray from what I'm good at so I slowed us after 2 miles (5:54, 5:41). A good recovery to get by some downhills and then it was 1 mile at a faster pace. We hovered around <5:20 pace and it felt terrible. Just hard and faster than it should feel. We ended up with a 5:11 thanks to some downhill at the end.

We weren't feeling great after the mile, but I forced us to go back to tempo and hope that felt good again. Thankfully it did, though it still hurt. 2 more miles (5:48, 5:39).

Other than my left hamstring flaring several times throughout the workout, I'm pretty happy with the tempo. Not sure what to do about the faster paces. Then again. I've done strides like twice in 2022.
