Notes
So I got out at the back (stereotypical nutmeg), but didn't take too long to pass a few dudes. Of course by the time I was passing people, there was already a separate leading group. 1st 400 was 71 (and was the last split I heard), I think and 2nd 400 was similar.
For about 4 laps in the middle, I just drafted off this Clarke guy. I was feeling pretty good and thinking about when I should make my move. However I apparently failed to realize our pace had consistently slowed down. I passed him with probably 2.5 laps to go, got passed by a different Clarke kid with a lap to go and had a decent kick.
Not happy to see 4:49 on the results immediately afterward. But with a few days of thinking I'd say it doesn't mean I'm in terrible shape, or at least not necessarily at longer distances. Not sure what this means I'll be doing for future races though.
