Saylorville

Notes

Morning workout. My feet are still tender but the legs are feeling fine. I ran out to Saylorville and started with a 1.25mile casual tempo that turned less casual when I hit a hill 3/4 of a mile in.

Next was 3 quarter-miles uphill, or mostly uphill as it started and ended flat but the distance was correct. 82, 80, 80. Those felt strong but not particularly fast.

Finished with 3 sprints, 1 downhill, 1 flat, 1 uphill.

My latest endeavor is looking at my Routes on RunningAhead trying to optimize them or take a minimalistic approach. Some things were easy, like route names I only put down once, or ones I misspelled, or duplicates. But then I have longstanding routes like today's (Saylorville) that encompass 20 miles of possible running that could be flat or hilly, bike path or prairie. Then there are in-town routes that often overlap; like 18th or 1st are popular routes, but I often take those to reach other routes. And some are a very specific add-on that hardly warrants its own route.

Not really a crippling issue for my running log and doubtless something that is bound to happen over 15 years. So I don't expect to find a universal solution. But maybe next time I live long-term in a location, I'll remember to be a little more intentional when thinking of new route names.
