Without ever exclusively thinking about it, I think I've made the decision not to return to high mileage yet. Maybe I'm too tired, or too busy; maybe I just dislike cold/snow; or maybe my desire will never return.
Nevertheless, I was feeling good today so decided to do a simple workout. I saw a sign declaring 2 miles to the trailhead, so I tempoed over there (12:40, unsure how accurate distance is of course). The return included 4 long strides at a faster pace. Overall a nice workout, still somewhat sore but not as bad as I anticipated. Maybe I'll try to get more workouts like this instead of longer runs.
