Plan: 800's on grass in spikes
Unfortunately the soccer fields I planned on running at were taken, so I needed to estimate a half mile. My choices were either decent grass entirely in the sun, or tall, unkemp, and uneven grass mostly in the shade. I opted for the shade.
This made for an interesting route, as some parts were solid dirt, other parts sandy, some wet... I also did these in alternating directions, so I think the wind affected the odd numbered repeats. Splits were 3:00, 2:53, 2:57, 2:52, 2:53.
No idea what those times mean, but I hit a faster than usual pace and the spikes felt good. I certainly didn't overdo it either and I think I could have done a few more.
