Notes

Well, I did it, I'm on the move again and staying at Drew's (well maybe not on the move yet, I'll go back to Ankeny next week and stay for a few weeks again likely). However, Drew has taken a step backwards and is not running or biking at all. So running-wise, being here may not be the best option, but I'll try to enjoy the "new" sights.

And thinking of where best to run, I thought it would be fun to go to where Coe hosts XC meets. Sadly, no lines were drawn and the grass needed to be mowed. And with my early rise this morning, that meant a lot of dewy grass and soon wet shoes, socks, and spikes. I made up a short loop that took a little more than 2 laps to hit a mile.

Mile 1: 5:56. Tempo miles on a rolling course. Happy to find a comfortable pace under 6.

Mile 2: 5:50. The 2+ loops meant a lot of right turns, so I reversed this one. Maybe a steeper uphill but basically the same.

Mile 3: 5:50: I felt like my legs weren't doing as great today as my last xc workout, but my breathing was very comfortable.

Mile 4: 5:34. Obviously got carried away on my last one. I had to breathe a little harder but felt good. Part of me was starting to think why bother running so much slower than race pace but that's dumb thinking.

After each mile, I rested for 90sec, did a 30sec hill sprint (on a very slight uphill that turned flat), then rested for 60sec. I had planned a longer rep between miles but wasn't inspired by anything. So a pretty easy workout overall I think; yet happy with the execution.

Rebel.

Doing an XC workout? You optimistic for some XC races this fall?

Nutmeg

Hopeful more than optimistic.

If no true races, a xc time trial does interest me.

If nothing else, good strength work?
