Notes

Another soft-surface day for me and adding in Drew and Helix. Perhaps again too soft at times. Drew chose for us to start on the single-track at the last second and that was a fun distraction. Slick in spots but mostly good. Helix was only doing 45 min and he led us on our way back. I don't know if I was getting tired of the twists and hills or Helix picked up the pace but I was feeling it.

I left a hat at my car and picked up my headlamp which I had by luck in my coat. Drew was also feeling fatigued but determined to join me for the rest. We kept to the crushed limestone which was in worse conditions, more wet spots and lots of footprint potholes. I'm not sure if the headlamp helped at all.

Plan was 30min hard to finish the run. In my mind that meant under 6min pace but the conditions were too unpredictable to go by GPS pace. So we went by effort. It was probably on average easier than a consistent tempo, but there were many harder sections where our steps sank or twisted. Ended up averaging 6:20 which I'll call appropriate.
