Notes

Long run Sunday with Drew. It was a windy day and I though heading south-north would neutralize some of the westerly wind. I was wrong and it was much worse on the 2nd half of the run. But we did get to go further along the trail than the winter allowed. Made it to Ely which I haven't done in years.

It took me a bit to get into this run. I thought were rolling early but apparently that was just me being apprehensive and my first mile check was the 5th mile in which we did hit 6:30. Before that it was 2 7's and 2 6:40's. I think I also didn't want to go too fast early on since we had a long ways to go today and no downtown or hills or snow to keep us slower. But cruise we did as more miles were in the 6:20's.

We turned around at 9, though there was part of each of us that wanted to get to the end of the bike path 1 mile further. I'm glad we did though as the wind changed things quickly. Instead of being relaxed and cruising, we had to fight a little harder. A few uphills added to the challenge. Once we made it to 5 miles to go, we were in familiar territory (and it also meant mostly downhill to come). The next 4 miles averaged under 6:20. Somewhat surprising as we still had some wind in our face and I thought we were slowing. I guess I was just tiring, particularly with 2.5 to go. The final half mile we let off the gas as we were full on into the wind again as well as a final hill.

Fastest long run since right before Covid (also with Drew, though Pollux and I had some very hard ones right before that). And 18 made it 70 for the week, that was not planned, hopefully not too much. Haven't been over 70 in over a year, though time-wise I had similar weeks last week.
