Notes
Weird sort of hill workout: Ended up being like 3 x 2 x 300/400m hills. Started off barefoot on the grass hill, this one's probably more like 300m. Took the first one easy in 1:04; 2nd one still pretty easy in 1:00.
Next I took a short break to put on my spikes and went back to the same hill. Started working harder for #3 in 57sec, then another one in 55sec.
Another short break to switch to my piranha flats, as the next 2 hills would be a marked 1/4 mile hill on the bike path. I used to do many hill repeats on this hill so maybe some deja vu/muscle memory got me sprinting up the hill. The mile marker also starts with ~10m of downhill so that certainly helps to get the legs going. The 5th hill was done in 70sec, which I was proud of and I didn't feel overexerted. Though I was a bit more tired by the beginning of my final rep, I still worked a 68sec final quarter. I probably couldn't have done another one faster, but it's not like I was 100% fresh either.
For those curious, the many shoe switches had to do with a road mile and track race coming up next week (I figured I wouldn't have another chance to put on the spikes, but I also wanted to remember how my flats felt). The barefoot just happened I guess.
Only 6 miles as I was in a hurry and thinking about squeezing in a long run tomorrow.
