Notes

Drew informed me of the pacer beforehand, so I knew this would be an interesting 3k. The 1st 3 laps were about 35/36 with the half mile in 2:25 I believe (all splits were just heard from some wartburg guy).

Around the half mile, 1 Wartburg guy fell off the main group and I just stayed with him (I had been last up until then, but on the pack). We hit the mile in 4:53, so just a few seconds off my mile time 4 weeks ago, but I was feeling fine and knew I was in much better track-shape than a month ago. I decided to pass the Wartburg guy (Mitch was his name, as everyone was cheering for him and only the Moser's cheered for me) but not increase the pace, I just figured we could share the lead. He stuck on me but passed me a few laps later so I just went back to drafting. 2k in 6:10.

I was gradually dropping off Mitch's pace, but felt good enough to kick while he had no response as I finished 3 seconds ahead of him in the last lap.

Fastest time since 2013 and a little more than 10 seconds off my PR. But what I'm more excited about is just how good running indoor and in spikes have felt this season. In the past few years, the sharp turns and fast paces have just felt miserable. So I'm looking forward to outdoor track, as I'm pretty sure I'm not going to travel for another indoor meet.
