Notes

Took yesterday off as a precaution. I wasn't yet sure how this infestation will affect me. But I got some sleep last night and the heat wave had broken so I decided to stick to my plan and do a longer run. I did my first hour long run 2 whole months ago exactly and the plan was to keep progressing. Then life got in the way; motivation, weather, and confidence pulsed up and down. But today I just went for it and it felt great.

The main thing I remember of the first several miles was that my ankles were burning, I just wanted to scratch them. The feeling faded throughout the run but it was weird. I passed a bathroom at 2 miles and within a minute I wondered if I should go back. Instead I foolishly continued. Another 2 minutes passed and I got smart and turned around. After the pit stop, it was smooth sailing and I got to 5 miles feeling good. I gave a thought to continuing all the way to the Katy Trail, but that would have added ~30 min and I decided not to give in to temptation. Save that for another day.

I finished up the Chapel Hill harder than I've tried before: 2:37 is the new PR. A long way from the course record but still.
