Drew handed me the baton about 10sec behind 1st and 8sec up on 3rd. I kept that position for nearly 2 laps. The entire 2nd lap I could hear cheers for both teams behind me. The Superior guy passed me and I maybe held onto him for 1/2 a lap, but he would go on to run 4:24 so that clearly wasn't going to happen, as I dropped off him, the 1st Luther team passed me.
In hindsight I'd say I should have maybe let the Superior guy go and then made a stronger bid to stay with Luther's guy (who ran 4:33). Instead I stayed in no man's land. I did get a decent kick and gained on Luther, but not nearly enough.
4:44 is nothing to be thrilled about but I'll be happy for now considering I haven't felt great in a few weeks.
