Notes

About time to do a workout again. Maybe Drew and I would have done one sooner but today was also the warmest all week (though that usually also means the most wind). I chose to do a straight-up continuous tempo. I wanted to stay in my wheelhouse as my stomach and throat have remained questionable since the race. 2.5 mile warm-up, and needing all of it to start feeling up for a faster pace.

1) 6:12, easing into the tempo and going uphill so still content with the time.

2) 6:07, the most uphill of the day.

3) 5:59, turnaround mile. On every other workout out here we've gone uphill and into the wind on the way out. Today we didn't have it as nice as we turned around and into the wind for the downhill miles.

4) 5:45, nevertheless, the wind is blocked at times and going downhill more than makes up for it to go fast. Working through a bit of a side-stitch.

5) 5:41, getting tired and know that Drew is too. The plan was 6 miles, hoping for 7, but not motivated to get 7 if Drew doesn't.

6) 5:39, final mile, I thought it might have been faster but we did have an up and a down section. Similar last mile as the 2 x 3 mile tempo, though not as smooth (seeing as the today's overall pace was faster, that's alright).

A solid workout. 35 minutes of tempo. While Drew laments he isn't nearly as tough in workout as in races, I'm just hoping to somehow treat races as well as I do workouts.
