Today I got my Elite singlet.
To me, its an honor to get it. Yeah, you might say ‘But Mikeelie you get that just for showing up’. Yes I know, and that’s exactly the point. I haven’t always had an easy road in my career. Outside of the running part of cross country, Ive gotten a lot of hate for standing up for myself and for what I believe in. I’ve had a lot of teammates dislike me because I don’t fit the status quo, and more teammates that Id like to admit dislike me and make passive aggressive comments towards me for rollin with the lgbt. But despite all that, I kept showing up. If I wouldve quit the second I started facing hate, I wouldn’t have met all the amazing people and had all the great experiences that I have had through this sport. And when you keep showing up, eventually the good you find will start outweighing the bad that you’re faced with. This would be my challenge to the younger members of the team who may be like me, but since I dont think any young people use this app anymore, Im just make this a general lesson for anyone who might be reading this.
