--- Quads were sore again but if it was anything like yesterday they would have gotten worse all day, so I’m glad I got the run out of the way. Still no dry-heaves and I’m a little surprised (disappointed?). ---

Got up at 6 a.m. and was so tired. Almost went back to sleep but stood up and check my quads and they were sore, but not as bad as before I ran last night. Got through my normal routine but left later than I wanted to. Felt better after a good stretch for once, especially in the quads. Was planning on running two laps around Parks for about 2.08 miles. Synced up with the Chinese balloon and I was ready to roll.

Quads were sore the first couple of steps and I thought to myself, welp, nothing you can do now. Was at about 2:14 at 0.25 miles, fairly manageable even for me right now, but I was breathing hard early and often. Started to feel a little better in my quads when I turned left on Norma Ave. and that stretch actually went by pretty fast. Struggled a bit near Dale Elementary around 0.55 miles or so. Got down the hill to University and opened it up a little bit, hitting the first mile in 8:52 and the first loop (1.05 miles) in 9:16 (8:50 pace).

Struggled more on the second loop. Legs were heavy again. Normal Ave. was a grind and I was at about 13:23 at 1.50 miles (8:55 pace). Really was feeling it up the small hill at Dale Elementary around 1.60 miles. Took a bit to recover but I finally did on the downhill to University. Opened it up a little there, getting down to the 8:40s and even 8:20 pace once when I looked. Was at the 2-mile mark in about 17:49 (8:57) from recollection and ran the first mile of the second loop in 8:55. Ended up running the second loop (1.04 miles) in 9:19 (8:57 pace).

Altogether it was 2.09 miles in 18:36 (8:54 pace). Happy to get the run over with because I knew my quads would be worse in the afternoon. Did a nice slow walk to the next driveway and back. Still no dry-heaves and I’m a little surprised (disappointed?). Most likely taking tomorrow off and then slowly upping my runs by 10 percent or so.
