Kind of didn’t want to run because my quads just kept feeling worse all day and by the time I was walking out of work around 6:30 every step hurt. Got home and decided that I was just going to run a recovery run over around the Helix High School baseball fields. Felt a little better after a quick stretch, but the soreness was still in both quads. Walked across to the starting point to start the six laps for about two miles (including the out-and-back to get to the starting point). China said I could go and I was off.

First couple of steps cemented a recovery run as my quads were so sore. Saw that I was at roughly 4:54 at 0.50 miles. Went to the heart rate on the Garmin for most of the rest of the one save the mile mark at roughly 9:52. For the most part I was in the high 150s when I’d look, eventually getting into the low 160s. Even the six laps seemed long, but was pretty consistent at 2:30.2, 2:31.0, 2:30.2, 2:31.4, 2:30.3 and 2:32.3. My quads felt normal toward the middle of the run but sore again toward the end. Kept passing two high schoolers on the third-base side up near the pool. It felt like they were laughing at me on the last lap. Then I looked back and they seemed to be walking behind home plate toward the first-base side. I was happy it was my last lap because I wasn’t about to get jumped. I think that’s why my heart rate went up a little on the 0.24 miles back to my starting point.

Happy to get in another run even though my legs hated me for it. Quads are even worse some two hours after the run while I write this. Hoping to sneak out in the morning to fool my legs.
