--- Ran this 1:33 faster than the last time on Feb. 7. Wanted to use the downhill parts but didn’t really feel that good. Legs were super heavy again. First time running five straight days since May 15-19, 2021. ---
Mile splits: 8:34, 8:30 (17:04), 8:01 (25:04) and 4:32 (29:36) last 0.54 miles (8:24 pace)

Was looking forward to the run this morning. Went out a little bit later than I wanted to after staying up too late. Had an OK stretch, but it made my legs feel better. My only plan going in was to push it a little on the downhill parts of the loop because I don’t think I take advantage of the downhills enough on my runs. I just wanted to take advantage of gravity. Walked over to the starting point by the crosswalk on the corner of University and Lowell.
Knew right away that I didn’t have it today. Legs just felt heavy and a little tired. My heart rate monitor (wrist one) was out of whack too as it had me in the high 170s when I was checking early and the first 0.60 miles were downhill or flat. Seemed to fix itself later. Took the right on 70th for the uphill. Kind of dogged it maybe half way up but retroactively looking back this seemed to go by quicker than I would have thought. Hit the first mile in 8:34 (8:20 adjusted).
The rest went by quickly for me as I was dealing with the uneven sidewalks late on 70th. Made the right on El Cajon. Was working kind of hard here to stay about 8:30 pace. Took the right on Harbinson and was looking forward to the next mile on this road pretty much being all downhill. Hit the 2-mile in 17:04 following an 830 (8:27 adjusted).
Started to open it up a little bit the rest of Harbinson. Was feeling decent, but I should have with it being all downhill. Could feel it a little bit in my right hamstring but nothing crazy. Just really tight. I remember seeing 21:02 at 2.50 miles (8:25 pace). Ran the third mile in 8:01 (8:11 adjusted), which I was pretty happy with. Was a 25:04 at the 3-mile mark.
Took the left on University knowing that most of the rest of the run would be a gradual uphill. This was difficult as usual but not anything too bad. I was probably working a bit harder than I wanted to keep up the pace. Picked it up from Pomona Ave. back to the starting point. Ran the last 0.54 miles in 4:32 (8:24 pace) (8:08 adjusted).
Ended up running the 3.54 miles today in 29:36 (8:22 pace) (8:18 adjusted). It was 1:33 faster than the last time I ran this on Feb. 7. Still 51 seconds slower than my PR (six times running it overall) but I’ll take it for now considering how I felt. This was the first time I’ve run five straight days since May 15-19, 2021. Looking back it was my fourth-fastest run of the year. Once I finished I could see that my cut near my left ankle kind of broke out a little bit again. A hole in my sock at pretty much the same spot didn’t help but at least the bruising is all gone (it’s been 29 days already).
