Bagged this planned run in the morning when I saw the night before of 20-to-30mph winds and rain. Wanted to duck out of work around 3 p.m. and try to run still in daylight. Originally planned to drive out in the morning to Harry Griffen Park, then last night it was out to Lake Murray for the inner loop today, and with it being so late it became just five laps around Highlander Way plus a little more. Had a stressful day of work with lots going on and was just pissed off at everything on the way home and when I got home. Wanted to just get out and run. Wanted it to still be easy but didn’t have a pace goal or heart rate goal going in. Left foot hurt all day as usual lately and the bruise and cut are both still there, but I didn’t think about it really at all while stretching and putting on my shoes. Quickly let the Chinese balloon know I was ready and started to walk to the other side of the road to start at the corner of Highlander Way and Lowell.

Started off a bit quick but settled into a nice pace. I think I was at 2:07 at 0.25 miles but settled in after. Highlander Way was pretty much into the wind (well a little right-to-left) and coming up on University was with the wind. Really this was just a stress free five laps of 3:48, 3:54, 3:55, 3:57 and 3:55 for 2.17 miles in 19:29 (8:59 pace).

Planned on adding Blocked Tennis Courts (0.35 mi.) out and back but it was too dark, wet and muddy for me to want to do it so just kind of ran up Lowell a little bit and back and around to make 2.50 miles. The aimless 0.33 miles slowed me down in 3:06 (9:23 pace).

Still, it was an easy 2.50 miles in 22:34 (9:02 pace). Comparing this to something I had done just nine days ago about the same with Highlander Way x 5 plus a little more. Then was 2.32 miles at 9:12 pace with 149 AHR and 155 MHR. Today was 2.50 miles at 9:02 pace with 143 AHR and 150 MHR. More progress.
